Target Audience

The conference is intended for researchers, academics, and students interested in creating more age-friendly universities. It also targets older adults, associations, and non-profit organisations that work with or support older populations. Additionally, professionals in health and social services, as well as high school and vocational students, are encouraged to attend. This diverse audience is integral to fostering collaboration and sharing ideas on how to better integrate older adults into university life.

Objectives of the Event

  • Promote a university environment that supports the well-being of older adults.
  • Investigate and identify factors that facilitate age-friendly activities within EUniWell universities.
  • Create a platform for translational gerontological research to improve the quality of life for older adults.
  • Identify potential partners outside academia to promote socially embedded age-friendly universities.
  • Share ideas and initiatives with the community, older adults, professionals, academics, and students.

Background: The AGEWELLSITY project

The AGEWELLSITY project promotes a cultural shift to make universities more inclusive for older adults. This initiative recognises the importance of integrating older adults into all university activities to foster a valuable opportunity for translational gerontological research. This, in turn, can contribute to societal transformation by positioning universities as key players in enhancing the quality of life for older adults in our ageing society.

AGEWELLSITY brings together a network of age-friendly universities and institutions within EUniWell, creating a platform for collaboration among researchers, lecturers, and health and social professionals from the University of Cologne (Germany), Diakonie Michaelhoven in Cologne (Germany), Linnaeus University (Sweden), Semmelweis University (Hungary), and Dublin City University (Ireland).
