The image is a promotional graphic for an educational programme. It features a young plant sprouting from the soil, symbolising growth and development. The background is a soft-focus view of a radiant green light, which conveys a feeling of vitality and positivity. Overlayed text introduces the "Blended Intensive Programme" and below it, the slogan "Education toward a sustainable future" is displayed, suggesting the programme's focus on sustainability. The logo of EUniWell is placed in the top left corner, indicating the programme's association with the European University Alliance EUniWell.

“Education Toward a Sustainable Future” is an innovative and comprehensive Blended Intensive Programme designed to equip students, PhD students, researchers, and professors from EUniWell universities with the knowledge and skills necessary to address sustainability-related pressing challenges.

The programme is divided in two parts:

  • Online Part
    12 April 2024: The Proposal of the University of Florence on Education toward a Sustainable Future.
    6 May 2024: Portfolio presentation (final work) and assessment of the programme.
  • In-Person Part
    15-19 April 2024: The in-person component offers participants the opportunity for hands-on learning, collaboration, and networking at the University of Florence, aiming to prepare professionals to address sustainability challenges in innovative and creative ways. Over the course of the week, participants will delve deeper into the practical application of sustainable principles and methodologies through workshops, group activities and outdoor education experiences.

Expert facilitators will guide participants in developing actionable strategies and solutions to tackle sustainability challenges within their fields. They will also learn to foresee the potential repercussions of their professional actions across diverse contexts and communities, while envisioning alternative futures and crafting strategies to realise them.

In line with the European sustainability competence framework (GreenComp), the programme aims to:

  • promote the ability of individuals to think holistically and systemically, nurturing the critical thinking necessary to challenge unsustainable worldviews;
  • encourage collaborative action, both individually and collectively, to transform society and build a sustainable and inclusive future;
  • promote the development of sustainability skills as part of professional growth by training ethical change agents in various sectors, including education, business, and the social economy.
