Research Data Management from Training to Practice

Archive for Researchers in-person

Are you a young researcher or staff member at an EUniWell member university interested in gaining insights into Research Data Management (RDM) or keen to build RDM teams at your institution? Join us for this international workshop in Murcia from 8-10 October 2024. Apply by 22 September.

Four young people stand behind a pane of glass and look intently at the documents in their hands. In the top right-hand corner is a badge with a colour gradient from cyan to magenta, with ‘#Research’ written on it.

In today's academic world, open science is not only an emerging trend but an imperative need to advance knowledge and innovation. Open science promotes transparency, reproducibility, and accessibility of research results, allowing scientific findings to be shared and used by a global audience.

This openness not only fosters collaboration between researchers from different disciplines and geographies but also strengthens the public's trust in science.

A fundamental pillar of open science is the management of research data (RDM) under the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. These principles ensure that data is not only available, but also easily locatable, appropriately accessible, compatible across different systems and formats, and reusable in multiple contexts. Implementing FAIR principles in RDM maximises the value of the data generated, allowing its continuous use and integration into new studies and applications.

EUniWell warmly invites you to the workshop on FAIR RDM organised within the framework of the EUniWell #Research project.

Through sessions and practical examples, we will explore the tools and strategies needed for data stewards to effectively support researchers in their implementation of FAIR data management principles in their research projects.

This idea of openness also encourages us to find new ways and methods of sharing and spreading knowledge and information. In this workshop, we will also explore the basics and possibilities of developing your didactic toolbox. To further consolidate these insights, we will then develop training videos together.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead and promote these practices within their academic communities, thus contributing to the advancement of more collaborative, efficient, and accessible science for all.

Preliminary programme

8 October 2024: Trainers to Trainees Research Data Management

  • Research Data Lifecycle-FAIR principles

  • FAIRification Framework
  • Sharing experiences with RDM teams

9 October 2024: Media-Didactics for trainers and researchers

  • Development of a didactical toolbox
  • Basics of training video production

10 October 2024: Trainers and Young Researchers working together on their DMPs and making their data FAIR.

Location of the workshop

Target audience

The workshop is intended for staff requiring training for building RDM teams in their institution and stafffrom experienced RDM teams who wish to share their experience and help build RDM teams and enrich their skills in the areas mentioned above. Finally, the workshop is also open to young researchers (R2 and R3) willing to gain insights on RDM and media didactics and want support for building their DMP and making their data FAIR.
