On 6 February 2024, the European University for Well-being (EUniWell) and the Global Governance Institute (GGI) in Brussels signed a comprehensive partnership agreement to reinforce their cooperation in the fields of education, research, and policy-oriented impact.

The Global Governance Institute, an independent international think tank and education institution focusing on core challenges in the fields of peace and security, human rights and global justice, global economic governance, global environmental governance, AI and Global Governance, and Global Education and Innovation, has been an associate partner of EUniWell since its inception in 2020.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) further deepens and institutionalises the partnership between EUniWell and GGI to further intensify their joint interdisciplinary activities related to well-being and utilise GGI’s strategic presence in Brussels as a contact point for the EUniWell Alliance.

Professor Beatrix Busse, EUniWell Chief Development Officer, stated: “We are delighted to have signed this MoU to further reinforce the productive partnership between EUniWell and GGI here in Brussels. It will allow us to cooperate intensively in the context of the planned new Master programme, the Brussels summer school and a variety of exciting research, teaching and policy initiatives.”

Professor Joachim Koops, Member of the Board of the Global Governance Institute and former Chair of EUniWell’s Arena on Individual and Social Being commented: “Today’s Memorandum of Understanding will elevate the great partnership between both entities to the next level. We are looking forward to deepening the excellent cooperation and to further contributing to EUniWell’s unique mission from a European and Global perspective.”

The Memorandum of Understanding between EUniWell and GGI foresees the facilitation of EUniWell’s core missions of research, education, innovation, and policy impact throughjoint courses (online or on-premise), collaborative research projects and joint grant applications, publications, the organisation of joint scholarly conferences and policy-maker workshops, outreach activities in Brussel, innovative educational initiatives, student internships and traineeships, visiting lectureships, and other exchanges, policy impact initiatives, and other cooperative activities, including the development of a higher education Well-Being Index.
