LULaC – Lesser-Used Languages Classroom
LULaC is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership project involving four EUniWell member institutions. It is coordinated by Inalco, with the University of Cologne, the University of Florence, and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv as project partners. The project aims to promote linguistic diversity in European higher education by developing innovative digital approaches to teaching and learning lesser-used languages.
LULaC addresses the shortage of teaching resources and learning opportunities available for languages that are less widely taught than major European languages. Drawing on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the project partners are developing standardised, high-quality teaching materials and digital learning resources. Ukrainian and Turkish serve as pilot languages for the project.
A key outcome of LULaC is the development of two introductory online language courses, to be made available through the digital learning platform of the EUniWell European University Alliance[EL(1] . By combining CEFR-based pedagogy with digital teaching methods, the project seeks to make language learning more accessible to wider audiences while responding to the limited availability of teachers and educational resources.
LULaC contributes directly to EUniWell’s commitment to multilingualism, cultural diversity, and inclusive access to education. Through close cooperation between four European universities, the project also supports the digital transformation of higher education and creates new opportunities for intercultural exchange and collaboration across Europe.
