The Medical University of Warsaw has officially joined the European University for Well-being (EUniWell) as the 12th member institution. This development marks a significant milestone in fostering cross-border academic collaboration on the topic of health and well-being and promoting shared values across Europe’s higher education landscape.

The photo shows the campus of the Medical University of Warsaw. In the center of the image, there is a multi-storey building with a mirrored façade. In front of it, there is a green area that borders a tree-lined street. Behind the mirrored building, several multi-storey flat-roofed buildings are visible. Additional city buildings can be seen in the background. In the upper third of the image, there is a blue sky with a few clouds.

At the center of the image is an art installation resembling an oversized mobile hanging from the ceiling, consisting of multicolored fish and a mermaid. On the lower level, which has a yellow floor, people are sitting on seating areas. On the upper level, a group of young people in white tunics is walking along a corridor with a white wall; facing the foyer, there is a glass balustrade.
The photo shows a building on the left side, with one façade made of mirrored panels and the other designed as a climbing wall. To the right of the building there is a strip of lawn, next to it a pedestrian path and a narrow roadway. On the far right of the image, there is a fence with green deciduous trees behind it.

Expanding the Alliance for shared European values

The European University for Well-being (EUniWell) is proud to officially welcome the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) to the Alliance. Following a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2025, MUW has now been formally included as full member institution of the Alliance and as partner beneficiary in the European Universities Initiative EUniWellWeFF project.

Bringing MUW into the Alliance strengthens EUniWell’s academic network and incorporates one of the most prestigious medical institutions in Central and Eastern Europe. Together, the partners will push forward EUniWell’s commitment to building a European platform that actively promotes well-being, health, sustainability, and societal transformation.

Driving innovation and collaboration

MUW’s membership in EUniWell paves the way for a wide range of initiatives. The university will work closely with other members of the Alliance to launch research projects, design innovative study programmes, and expand mobility opportunities for students and staff. These efforts will also foster civic engagement across borders, bringing universities and communities closer together. While health and well-being remain at the core of this collaboration, it also extends to related areas such as social equity and environmental sustainability.

Professor Beatrix Busse, Chief Development Officer of EUniWell, underlines how strongly the new partnership compliments the Alliance:

“With its exceptional capabilities in medical research and education, MUW brings valuable momentum to EUniWell’s Thematic Arena “Health and Well-being”. The university’s 180 research and teaching units reflect MUW’s deeply rooted commitment to improving health and well-being through innovation and knowledge exchange. Their values resonate strongly with EUniWell’s mission, and we are excited to welcome the university to our Alliance.”

Professor Rafał Krenke, Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, reflects on what this milestone means for MUW:

“Becoming part of EUniWell is a proud moment for our university. We believe that academic collaboration across borders is essential to addressing the complex challenges facing healthcare and society today. Through this partnership, we look forward to advancing scientific discovery, innovative education, and above all, the well-being of our communities.”
