The European University Alliances ERUA and EUniWell are happy to invite you to the Cross-European Universities Alliance Symposium “Living Language Policies - Lived Multilingualism” on 10 and 11 October, to celebrate the launch of the ERUA language policy, and to discuss multilingualism and language policies in European universities.

The ERUA and EUniWell Cross-European Universities Alliance Symposium “Living Language Policies - Lived Multilingualism” takes place in Paris on Thursday 10 October and Friday 11 October 2024. The first day will be hosted by Paris 8 University (Campus Condorcet) and the second day by Inalco University.

On the first day, alliance members and partners will discuss the role of language policies in European University Alliances and their implementation. The second day will be dedicated to interactive workshops on multilingualism in research, teaching and learning, governance, and communication.

The plenary sessions of 10 October will also be open for online participation.The event is targeted at multilingualism and language policy experts among EUniWell and ERUA member universities and partners.

  • 10:00 - 12:20 CET / 09:00 - 11:20 GMT / 11:00 - 13:20 EET: Opening, keynote speeches and ERUA's Language Policy presentation
  • 14:00 - 16:30 CET / 13:00 - 15:30 GMT / 15:00 - 17:30 EET: Roundtable discussion: University Language Policy in Action - Multilingual Pathways in Research, Teaching, Communication, and Governance

Friday, 11 October - Inalco University

  • 9:30 - 12:30 CET: Concurrent interactive workshops on multilingualism
  • 14:00 - 16:00 CET: EUniWell and ERUA internal meetings
