About this lecture:

Violence against women constitutes gender-based discrimination. In a context of international law backlash, we will examine the role of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union in applying the international and European normative framework in this area through a review of their recent jurisprudence. 

About the lecturer:

Dr. Isabel Lirola is Full Professor of International Public Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Faculty of Law), where she teaches international and European law. One of her research areas is violence against women and the application of a gender perspective in international law.
