How can we define, study, restore, or realise conditions where teachers and students thrive?

The photo shows a classroom with pupils, a teacher is standing at the blackboard talking to the class.

Current working conditions in schools suggest imbalance, overload, and burnout. Despite the wealth of research conducted on teacher well-being, there is a scarcity of empirical research to demonstrate the outcomes of teacher well-being and its influence on teaching quality.

In order to tackle this issue, a free online workshop to discuss possible approaches for a joint European research project focusing on teachers and student teachers will take place on Wednesday, 8 March 2023 via Zoom, from 10:00 to 13:00 CET /  9:00 to 12:00 GMT.

Starting with a short keynote speech by Dr Julia Morinaj from the University of Bern, the aims of the workshop include the clarification of which indicators could be chosen and studied, what research design and methodology could lead to meaningful collaboration, and how a fruitful exploration of teacher well-being could be translated into policy recommendations or as online material for the EUniWell website.

The workshop is open to all interested colleagues and students are especially encouraged to attend.
