Fourth EUniWell CAS Symposium: Integrated Cancer Research – collaboration for impact
16/11/2026 to 18/11/2026
From 16 to 18 November 2026, Semmelweis University will host the fourth EUniWell Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) Symposium, bringing together researchers, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers and experts from EUniWell member universities for three days of scientific exchange, networking and collaborative project development in Budapest.
The symposium will focus on Integrated Cancer Research, with particular emphasis on strengthening international and interdisciplinary cooperation in cancer research and treatment. The programme aims to connect researchers from different fields, identify shared research interests and create opportunities for new joint projects, funding applications, and long-term collaborations.
A special feature of the fourth CAS Symposium is that it will take place alongside this year’s Semmelweis Symposium, sharing its overarching scientific focus. While the Semmelweis Symposium highlights recent advances and innovations in cancer research, the CAS Symposium complements it with a strong EUniWell-wide focus on collaboration.
Accordingly, the programme combines scientific content with workshops, project-development sessions, EUniWell Seed Funding initiatives, poster presentations and networking opportunities. Beyond oncology itself, the symposium will also explore related topics such as researcher well-being, digital health, patient communication, ageing, nutrition, public health, technology transfer, and pain management.
Online poster exchange
Ahead of the in-person programme in Budapest, an online component will provide an opportunity for participants to share and explore research posters through a dedicated poster submission platform accessible via the registration page. This exchange will encourage dialogue around the submitted work, help participants identify shared interests and potential collaborators, and lay the foundations for discussions and joint project ideas to be developed further during the symposium.
Main topics
16 November
The opening day will focus on mental well-being and sustainability in research, digital health, and tools and methods in biomedical research, complemented by poster presentations and networking opportunities.
17 November
The second day will cover topics including communication with cancer patients, inclusive language in oncology care, patient safety, cancer and ageing, tumor immunity, social isolation, nutrition, and community well-being.
18 November
The final day will focus on innovation and technology transfer, materials science for well-being, pain management and opioids, the microbiome in cancer, and future EUniWell research collaborations.

About the CAS symposia
The EUniWell Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS) is an important platform for research, innovation and knowledge exchange within the European University for Well-Being Alliance.
The CAS symposia are a new initiative designed to support and connect early career researchers across EUniWell. The bi-annual events provide a dedicated platform to explore pressing topics relevant to early career stages in an international and interdisciplinary setting, fostering collaboration and the development of future research opportunities.
The initiative is carried out within the framework of EUniWell’s Centre for Advanced Studies (CAS), the Alliance’s core structure for research, innovation, and knowledge transfer. CAS plays a central role in fostering cross-institutional collaboration, and this series forms part of its mission to empower the next generation of researchers by harnessing the Alliance’s collective expertise.
