Open Science Basic Course
An introduction to Open Science for all those new to the field
Course description
This online course introduces you to the different aspects of Open Science in research and teaching. The focus is on open access publishing, research data management and sharing teaching materials as free educational resources. In this context, organisational, technical and legal best practices for publishing and preparing scientific data and texts are discussed in a practical manner. Moreover, some crucial building blocks of Open Science such as repositories and persistent identifiers are covered.
The course consists of a total of eight modules on the following topics: Open Science - Open Access - Research Data Management - FAIR principles - Repositories - Persistent Identifiers - Legal Questions - Open Educational Resources. The modules consist of a screencast, a presentation, a script, a test and additional material such as research papers.
Examination: If you want to get 3 credit points for the course as a transversal skills course, please inform the University of Konstanz EuniWell team at euniwell@uni-konstanz.de. Each module includes a final test. After successfully completing all tests (each at least 65%, max. 3 attempts) you have passed the course.
Schedule
This course is asynchronous and is a self-paced program. Students are free to adapt the pace of studies to their needs.
