Successful proposals for the first EUniWell Seed Funding Call selected

Seven interuniversity and interdisciplinary projects will be funded in the first EUniWell Seed Funding Call. The call was launched to promote innovative projects in education, research and management and to bring together researchers, students, educators, and administrators from our seven universities. Here are the seven projects:

Good Practices Symposium on Student Well-being

This project will organize a symposium to exchange best practices for student well-being, as many students today face different challenges such as mental health. The project aims to give teachers and HE administrators the best tools to improve student well-being. Discovery of the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem of the EUniWell Consortium’s Members

This project’s goal is to lift EUniWell cooperation in the entrepreneurial field to a new level by involving and supporting stakeholders to improve well-being by becoming active in the field of entrepreneurship and fostering exchange between students, researchers, start-ups, university professionals and leaders. Under the lead of the University of Nantes, this project brings together all EUniWell partners: The University of Birmingham, the University of Cologne, the University of Florence, Leiden University, Linnaeus University and Semmelweis University. Multilingualism for Social Inclusion in the European Classroom (MSIEC)

Taking up one of EUniWell’s cultural goals, this project seeks to enrich teaching by exploring and supporting multilingualism. The project will analyze students’ and teachers’ experience of multilingualism in European cities (Birmingham, Cologne, Florence, Leiden), identify mechanisms for fostering multilingualism and provide a digital infrastructure for the purpose. The University of Cologne leads this project, accompanied by the initial partners University of Birmingham, University of Florence and Leiden University. Enriched Reality for Education and Digital Well-Being (EREdWeB)

This project explores the potential of state-of-the-art virtual reality technology for teaching, aiming at digital well-being. It will bring about groundbreaking research on the relation between virtual reality and education, namely regarding its cognitive, physiological, educational and social aspects. The project is led by the University of Florence and unites experts from the University of Birmingham, Leiden University, Linnaeus University and the University of Nantes. Exploring new Territories in Academic Development

Instilling “Human Literacy” into our Educational Processes (EUniHuLi): Human Literacy is a concept relating to the ability of adapting well to diverse communication situations. It is about diversity and intercultural competence, but also relates to digital communication situations, which are now more than ever an everyday challenge for most of us. The project will work to instill Human Literacy with HE teachers and administrators, as well as students. It will exchange best practices and initiate innovative research and teaching. Led by the University of Cologne, the initial partners are the University of Birmingham, Leiden University, Linnaeus University, the University of Nantes and Semmelweis University. Onco-Aging: Smart Health Community for Older Cancer Patients and Interdisciplinary Interactions with Medical Education for Future Geriatricians

The project aims directly at two major health concerns of contemporary Europe, cancer and an ageing society. It will foster awareness of specific needs of older cancer patients by engaging with healthcare professionals, medical students and researchers. The aim is to improve geriatric teaching plans and methods to ensure the long-term well-being of a growing number of concerned individuals in Europe and beyond. The University of Cologne leads the project, in cooperation with the University of Birmingham, the University of Florence, Leiden University and Linnaeus University as initial partners.

Diagnosing and Combatting Viral and Cancer Diseases

With this project, top EUniWell researchers will set up an innovative research cooperation aiming at two major well-being concerns of humanity: Viral diseases and cancer. The group will investigate new methods of attacking viruses at their quickly mutating DNA/RNA sequence, a key hindrance for quick vaccine development. Unique in its level of specific expertise, the project is led by the University of Birmingham and unites the University of Florence and Leiden University as initial partners.
