Speech writing in practice to the general public
Prepare a good manuscript and reach out to your audience
Course description
As a speaker, you should reach out to your audience. An important part of making your message heard is to prepare a good manuscript. But how can you effectively grab the audience’s attention, make an impression on them and clarify and make relevant to them your (perhaps) complicated research?
These issues are the focus in the module. We will alternate between short lectures and workshop activities aiming to increase your knowledge of, among other things,
- how to emphasize the main points in your speech
- how to prepare a manuscript suitable for the ear, and not for the eye
- how to choose the most comfortable and effective type of a manuscript for you and the purpose of your speech
- how to remember what to say and help the audience remember what you said
- how to make appropriate stylistic decisions in your speech.
