Course description
The legal clinic will run over the course of one academic year, beginning with a four-day in-person kick-off from Monday 20 October to Thursday 24 October 2025, in Konstanz.
This launch event will include expert-led lectures, interactive workshops, and study visits - to introduce students to the institutional settings relevant to their group’s focus.
- Group 1 will concentrate on international human rights law and engage with the United Nations system, including a potential study component related to Geneva.
- Group 2 will focus on EU Law and gender equality, preparing for engagement with Members of the European Parliament, including from the FEMM committee.
Throughout the year, students will participate in regular online meetings and undertake critical legal research under the guidance of professors from partner universities. Their work will culminate in policy-oriented outcome documents that may be presented to international bodies such as the UN Working Group on Discrimination against Women and Girls or to selected Members of the European Parliament.
The clinic aims to equip students with a deeper understanding of legal and institutional responses to gender inequality, while building practical skills to influence policy and promote social justice. Participation includes at least two mandatory in-person gatherings: the initial kick-off in Konstanz and a final event in Murcia in October 2026, possibly with an additional in-person mid-year meeting.
Travel and accommodation for these events will be covered. Please note that selected students must commit to participating for the entire academic year.
Schedule
From October 2025 to October 2026.
The first mandatory onsite meeting is planned in Konstanz on 20-24 October 2025.
The final mandatory onsite meeting will be held in Murcia.
There will be regular zoom meetings dispatched during the autumn and spring semesters.
Requirements
Learners should have proficient skills in English.
Candidates should be in either their bachelor's or master's degree, at least in their second academic year 2025/26, and enrolled in a course or a programme with a focus on international human rights law, EU law, political science, or a related field.
We require a short motivation letter from applicants, explaining their interest in the clinic and how it connects to their academic background and professional aspirations.
