Course description

This online course offers a practical introduction to Mooré, the most widely spoken language in Burkina Faso. It is designed for beginners with no prior experience. Across six weeks of engaging content, learners develop essential oral and written communication skills for everyday situations — from introducing themselves and asking for directions to booking accommodation, ordering food, and making purchases.

Through short dialogues, instructional videos, vocabulary tasks, and cultural insights, participants build confidence in everyday interactions while discovering aspects of Mossi culture. Activities and exercises help you check your progress, and discussion forums offer opportunities to connect with fellow learners.

Along with language training, the MOOC emphasises the cultural aspects, essential for interacting with speakers in a respectful manner and understanding their customs and values.

Whether you are passionate about languages, curious about Burkina Faso, or simply eager to broaden your linguistic and cultural horizons, this course invites you to explore Mooré in an accessible and supportive online environment.

The training is organised around simple tasks referenced in level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
