Quechuan Language - MOOC

Course description

This MOOC is a course in Southern Quechua, a language spoken by around 4.2 million people in southern Peru, Bolivia, and northern Chile and Argentina.

The course focuses on three variants of the language spoken in Peru and Bolivia, with an emphasis on intercomprehension among these variants.

Duration: The MOOC lasts 6 weeks.

Each week begins with a video dialogue in Quechua, around which the course content is structured.

The course is divided into 5 modules, each following the same progression:

• Vocabulary is introduced first (with audio and illustrations), followed by exercises to help learners memorize.
• Grammatical explanations to help understand the language’s structure.
• Exercises based on the initial dialogue to deepen comprehension.

From week 3 onwards, an interview with a native Quechua speaker (subtitled in French, Spanish or English) will immerse learners in Andean culture.

Each week concludes with exercises to assess progress.
