Course description
Recently, especially post-pandemic, we are witnessing an increase in studies and research focused both on Teacher Well-being and Student Well-being, exploring strategies and actions to develop these in professional and learning contexts. Specific interest has been directed towards future teachers and those figures who will operate in the education and training sector, which is characterised by a high level of emotional involvement and strong interpersonal demands.
The main goal of this BIP is to provide a cross-cultural learning opportunity, both virtual and physical, for students – future professionals in the field of teaching and education – to address the well-being challenges they (will) encounter and to develop well-being skills for their future in the professional contexts.
The BIP includes two online meetings and one week of in-person sessions held in Florence.
The first online meeting will take place before the physical mobility, with the aim of:
- getting to know the participants, their backgrounds, and their interest in well-being as students and future professionals
- exploring participants' prior knowledge and previous experiences in the field of TWB
- exploring participants' motivations for attending the BIP on the TWB topic
- creating a basis of common language
- presenting the physical mobility programme and requirements
- introducing the faculty from the partner universities involved in physical mobility
Lectures and workshops offered during the in-person week will focus on the following topics:
- Teacher Well-Being: an overview
- Reflecting on Teacher Well-being: A Simulation Workshop
- Promoting School Well-Being through the Tuscany Regional Health Promoting Schools Network
- School Visits
- The Well-Being of Education Professionals: workshop
- Educathon on Teacher and Education Professionals Well-Being
- Group work for structuring the final work (portfolio and Professional Development Plan)
The final meeting will be arranged after the physical mobility as a closing session of the programme, aiming to:
- critically reflect on the learning outcomes as a result of the programme
- critically reflect on transferability opportunities in the academic or professional context
- promote a collective reflection on personal and professional development plans
