Embracing Diversity, Empowering Equity and Inclusion, Elevating Well-Being: Our DEI Commitment
The DEI (Diversity, Empowering Equity and Inclusion) workshop, held in Florence on 19 and 20 November, had the aim of drafting a coherent alliance-wide DEI strategy, which summarises objectives, defines tools and activities, and assigns responsibilities.The 1.5-day event, designed as a combination of talks and interactive workshop sessions, provided a common understanding of DEI among participants and sketched an initial framework of the EUniWell Alliance's future DEI strategy.
A diverse group of colleagues was invited to the workshop to contribute on various aspects of DEI as researchers, educators, administrative staff, and students to foster a wide variety of ideas from multiple perspectives. Interaction played a central role in the seminar, fostering the exchange of diverse ideas and perspectives. The guided and structured approach enabled the development of more innovative and effective solutions.
Recognising the vital role of DEI in enhancing the well-being of students, teachers, researchers, and staff, key proposals and outcomes were identified. These include prioritising student needs, improving general services with attention to diversity, implementing specialised mobility programmes, and providing targeted training for administrative and academic staff.

The focus on Diversity, Empowering Equity and Inclusion is a central element of the Erasmus+ project EUniWellWeFF and is strategically prioritised in the EUniWell 2030 strategy framework.
