Delve into the multidisciplinary exploration of “Coercion and Well-being in Europe”, critically examining the interplay between coercive laws and measures in the pursuit of well-being. Born out of the EUniWell Seed Funding Programme, this conference, which is planned as a biennial event, will take place for the first time on 6 - 7 May 2024 at Nantes Université.

Conference Highlights:

  • Interactive Paper Discussions: Participants will discuss their papers in groups led by scholars during the conference, fostering dynamic interactions and enriching feedback.
  • Key Focus Areas: The conference will focus on critically examining the adoption of coercive laws and measures in the name of well-being, that is, on the understanding that they aim to protect people’s rights and well-being. Explore this complex relationship approach through lenses such as philosophy, political sciences, sociology, computer science, and more.
  • Multidisciplinary Approach: Engage with scholars and peers in discussions that span various legal realms, including criminal law, public law, civil law, environmental law, medical law, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic coercion. This multifaceted exploration aligns with the shared research interests of member universities.
  • Networking Opportunity: Connect with fellow PhD students and researchers from EUniWell universities, broadening your perspective with diverse opinions and forging valuable connections.
