Explaining my research to my neighbours - BIP
How can I communicate my research to a general audience? Explore science popularisation through two pathways
Course description
This training week on Science Popularisation is designed to help participants develop the skills needed to engage with non-specialist audiences.
The goal is to answer the question "How can I explain my thesis to my neighbours?" through a series of training modules.
The first module, common to all participants, lays the knowledge base of Science Popularisation (or “médiation scientifique” in French), covering key principles, the current state of research on the topic, and its role in research labs.
After that, participants can choose from two modules:
- "Graphic Facilitation": Participants, guided by an illustrator, will learn how to narrate their thesis project through writing and illustrating.
- "Oral Communication and Performance": Based on the "Three Minute Thesis" competition, this module teaches participants how to write a clear, concise, and engaging presentation of their research, with a focus on delivering it convincingly in three minutes.
