Exploring social health in the context of well-being
Doctor Beáta Pethesné Dávid, Semmelweis University
Dr. Beáta Pethesné Dávid is the Dean of the Faculty of Health and Public Administration and Director of the Institute of Mental Health at Semmelweis University. As a sociologist, she has been researching personal relationships and working with Social Network Analysis (SNA) for more than 30 years.
Her involvement with EUniWell started with taking part in a Seed Funding research project called UNIMATTER, focusing on improving the well-being and academic success of students. Dr. Dávid is also part of a collaboration that currently develops the Well-Being-Oriented Healthcare Master programme with five other EUniWell member universities. These two projects motivated her to get more involved and become a EUniWell Champion in September 2025.
Dr. Dávid's research focuses on social health, which stands on three key pillars: physical, mental and social health: "I believe that when health is examined not only from a biological, but also from a social, cultural, and mental perspective, we can better understand public health matters. On a personal level, I see well-being as something that is nurtured by our personal relationships. I also strongly support civic associations that teach young people that connections are indispensable for their health.”
