Six projects selected for funding under the 1st Call for New Joint Study Programmes
The development of new international joint study programmes aligned with the EUniWell Thematic Arenas is a key objective of the Alliance. To this end, EUniWell launched its first Call for New Joint Study Programmes in October 2025, offering dedicated funding to create new international degrees through a bottom-up approach. Following a competitive evaluation process, six projects have been selected for funding.
Each selected project will receive up to €25,000 to develop a new European degree programme. Officially underway since April 2026, all projects are expected to welcome their first cohorts in autumn 2027.
Introducing the six projects that will represent the Alliance’s first official joint programmes:
Bachelor in Sustainable Business by the University of Florence and Nantes Université
The project will establish an international double degree between two existing bachelors’ programmes: Sustainable Business for Societal Challenges at the University of Florence and International Management at Nantes Université.
The core objective is to offer a transnational pathway where sustainability as a strategic business driver meets international management, directly correlating with the EUniWell thematic arena of Environmental Change & Well-Being. This new option includes a fully embedded 12-month mobility period during the third year (60 ECTS) and will equip graduates with unique skills for managing environmental and societal challenges in international business environments, drawing on both Italian and French academic perspectives. Both UNIFI and NU will act as degree-awarding partners.
Master in Sustainable Finance and Human Resource Management (SusFiRM) by the University of Florence and the University of Konstanz
Based on the well-established double master’s degree proposed by the universities of Florence and Konstanz, the project team will create a new joint educational programme in sustainable finance, integrating interdisciplinary themes such as Sustainable and Climate Finance, Human Resource Management, Employee Well-being, Environmental Change and Wellbeing.
By leveraging a blended teaching model that combines on-site and online delivery, the project will establish a joint 1-year pathway (60 ECTS) in which the majority of modules will be attended simultaneously by students from both institutions. Both universities will award the degree and will jointly contribute to the new pathway from both an organisational and an academic perspective.
Master in Water Sustainability, Treatment Technologies & Regulation Policy (WATSTEP) by the University of Murcia and University of Florence
This newly created joint master’s programme, coordinated by the University of Murcia, addresses the urgent need for professionals capable of ensuring water sustainability through an integrated scientific, technological, legal and policy‑based approach.
By combining the technological excellence of the University of Murcia with the EU law and governance expertise of the University of Florence, the programme will offer students a unique interdisciplinary learning environment aligned with EUniWell’s mission to forward well-being, sustainability and societal impact. The programme is expected to comprise 90 ECTS over 18 months, targeting graduates in chemistry, environmental sciences, engineering, biology and related fields seeking international, mobility‑based training that bridges science, technology and regulation policy. The programme will be taught in English, ensuring accessibility and seamless mobility across EUniWell institutions.
Double Master in Multilingualism and Language Science by Nantes Université and the University of Konstanz
The project prepares the implementation of a 2-year double master’s programme (120 ECTS) for the Master in Language Science of Nantes Université and the Master in Multilingualism of the University of Konstanz.
This new option will enable the students to internationalise and customise their curriculum through mandatory mobility during their master’s studies and to acquire an additional degree. The double degree builds on the complementary expertise of each partner department and will be unique in covering extensively various domains of general linguistics, experimental and field methodologies, and multilingualism. The programme will be taught in English at both institutions.
Master in Sport Sciences (SPORTEX) by Nantes Université and the University of Konstanz
The joint degree aims to design and implement a 2-year master’s programme (120 ECTS) in sport sciences. The programme will be attached to existing master’s degrees at both institutions and offered as an optional pathway, ensuring feasibility within existing approval frameworks while achieving a high degree of academic cooperation.
Both institutions will act as degree-awarding partners. Nantes Université and the University of Konstanz will jointly design the curriculum, approve courses, co-supervise theses, and host students during mobility periods. Each institution is expected to contribute with teaching, laboratory access, supervision capacity and administrative coordination. Mobility offerings will include long-term study mobility and short-term joint activities.
EUniWell Joint Micro-Degree in Teacher Professionalisation and Well-Being (TEACH WELL) by the University of Konstanz, Linnaeus University and the University of Cologne
TEACH WELL aims at creating an innovative joint European micro-degree enabling in-service, second-career and future teachers to re- and upskill via stackable micro-credentials. This project will enable participants to develop well-being skills in teacher and student mental health, inclusive and equitable educational practices, and sustainable school development, all through flexible and widely recognised lifelong learning modules that favour European exchange.
Core project activities include the development of a shared competence framework aligned with the European classification of skills, competences and occupations ESCO, the definition of learning outcomes at EQF levels 6 and 7, and the design of flexible learning paths responding to teachers’ professional needs.
The team will design a series of courses awarding micro-credentials (1–3 ECTS), alongside a comprehensive curriculum for the full micro-degree (8–10 ECTS). Courses follow a multilingual didactic concept in English and other EUniWell languages, with translated asynchronous components to enhance accessibility and inclusion.
