Course description

Intercomprehension is a recent didactic approach, but an ancient way of communication: everyone speaks in their native language and can understand the language of the interlocutor, without using a "lingua franca" like English.

We propose a course which aims to comprehend six languages from the same family (Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, English, Dutch and German). Intercomprehension (IC) enables anyone to understand all the languages within a common family, thereby promoting an equal exchange, where no one is at a linguistic disadvantage. IC fosters diversity, multilingualism, respect of difference and well-being.

Schedule

From 9 to 10 April:

  • 10am-5pm

From 13 to 17 April:

  • 10am - 4/5pm

Requirements

The participation requirements are as follows:

  • The candidate must be a native speaker of Germanic language (or C2 level).
  • The candidate must have knowledge of a second language from the same language family as the first (minimum level: B1)
  • The candidate must indicate all languages known.

Priority will be given to master’s degree students or third year bachelor’s degree students and to the people who have a Germanic language as mother tongue.
