Call for abstracts – Conference on Building Peace and Democracy in Ukraine: Civil Society, Institutions, and Economic Reconstruction

11/06/2025 | by Linus Karlsson | Linnaeus

Ukraine faces major challenges as it seeks peace, democratic stability, and economic recovery. The Building Peace and Democracy in Ukraine conference, organised by EUniWell Arena 2: Social Equality and Well-being, invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners – from both EUniWell partner universities and institutions outside the alliance – to submit abstracts.

Two flags — Sweden’s and Ukraine’s — wave against a blue sky. Text reads: “EUniWell – European University for Well-Being. Call for Abstracts. Conference on Building Peace and Democracy in Ukraine.”

The Building Peace and Democracy in Ukraine conference will take place on 12–13 May 2026 at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine, and at Linnaeus University, Kalmar campus, Sweden.

Ukraine stands at a critical historical juncture. In the face of ongoing aggression, territorial violations, and the trauma of war, the path towards long-term peace and democratic stability lies not only in military resilience but also in strengthening institutions, engaging civil society, and rebuilding a just and inclusive economy.

This conference offers a platform to bring together expertise, exchange experiences, and foster collaboration across the areas most essential to Ukraine’s sustainable and democratic future.

Conference themes

  • Diplomacy as a Tool for Ensuring Peace and Justice
