A milestone for collaborative engagement

The European University for Well-being (EUniWell) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW), Poland. This agreement paves the way for future joint initiatives and eventual full membership in the EUniWell University Alliance.

Professor Beatrix Busse, EUniWell Chief Development Officer, and Professor Rafał Krenke, Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, signed the MoU during an EUniWell visit to Warsaw at the end of April 2025. As part of the visit, EUniWell representatives were welcomed to the MUW campus and gained insights into the university’s history, academic excellence, clinical facilities, and research infrastructures.

Medical University of Warsaw: A leader in medical education and research

With roots dating back to 1809, the Medical University of Warsaw is not only one of the oldest but also the largest medical school in Poland. It is affiliated with several of the country’s leading hospitals and plays a central role in medical education and healthcare provision nationwide.

The university is deeply committed to improving public health through scientific excellence, clinical innovation, and social responsibility. With its international outlook and interdisciplinary focus, MUW pursues values that are closely aligned with EUniWell’s objectives.

Shared belief: Well-being central to societal progress

The academic profile of the Medical University of Warsaw aligns closely with EUniWell’s five Thematic Arenas. On this basis, the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding opens up a wide range of opportunities for meaningful academic collaboration, including joint research endeavours, co-development of educational offers, civic engagement initiatives, and efforts to promote the well-being of students and staff across institutions.

The step towards closer collaboration also affirms a shared belief: that well-being is central to academic and societal progress.

Professor Beatrix Busse stated:

“This agreement marks a milestone in our collaborative efforts. The Medical University of Warsaw adds outstanding expertise in health and well-being to EUniWell’s portfolio, and we are excited to begin working more closely together. By combining our strengths, we can create real impact – both within our universities and far beyond.”

MUW Rector Professor Rafał Krenke added:

“Joining forces with EUniWell reflects our commitment to advancing academic excellence through international collaboration. We strongly believe that well-being must be a foundation of modern education and research, and this step enables us to further that mission within a broader, European context.”
