Europe Day stands for peace and unity in Europe. EUniWell is also committed to this objective in being “EUnited for Well-Being”. Especially in the light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, this year, we want to once again emphasise our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and in particular with the colleagues and students of our member institution, Taras Shevchenko National University in Kyiv, as well as all colleagues and students across Ukraine who continue to teach and study under the most difficult circumstances.

In doing so, we also want to focus on the positive that is happening in the framework of the European Union, but also specifically in our Alliance: we support each other, develop a way forward together and find ways of coming together to celebrate this, most recently at FestiWell and the Rectors’ Assembly in Sweden. We continue to grow together to become the Voice for Well-Being in Europe.

During this one-hour thematic panel discussion, EUniWell Chief Development Officer Prof. Beatrix Busse, KNU Vice-Rector for Education Prof. Kseniia Smyrnova, the experienced science journalist and moderator Katja Nellissen as well as KNU student board member Yulianna Malchyk  will discuss the current situation in Ukraine and how European University Alliances can be of help.

Background

Europe Day, celebrated every year on 9 May, stands for peace and unity in Europe. This date marks the anniversary of the historic “Schuman Declaration” from 1950, in which former French foreign minister Robert Schuman  set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe. Schuman's proposal is considered the beginning of what is now the European Union.
