International Workshop on “Translating Medical Innovation to the Patient”

29/11/2025

Online & University of Florence EUniWell-Event

How are digital innovations transforming medical diagnostics and healthcare? On 29 November the international workshop will explore how technology enables more precise, timely, and personalized care. Bringing together representatives from simulation centres from across the EUniWell Alliance, the event fosters the exchange on the ethical and science-cultural aspects of medical advancement and patient well-being and factors.

New technologies are increasingly transforming medical diagnostics and patient care through advanced imaging, real-time monitoring, and integrated data platforms. This hybrid workshop on 29 November provides a structured forum to critically explore how digital innovations can be responsibly and effectively integrated into healthcare, with a particular focus on patient engagement and the evolving clinician–patient relationship.

Bringing together representatives from simulation centres within the EUniWell Alliance, the event will facilitate the exchange of best practices and innovative training methodologies. Special attention will be given to the role of university-based E-Health Centres in supporting the transition from technological innovation to patient benefit within a broader digital healthcare ecosystem.

Key discussion topics will include the contribution of simulation to patient-centred care, the integration of ethical and cultural dimensions into training, and the potential of E-Health to improve care accessibility and continuity. The workshop will feature keynote lectures, scientific presentations, and open debates, encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue on clinical responsibility, patient involvement, technological trust, and the social values underpinning medical progress.

A central focus will be placed on the patient's role – not only as a recipient of care but as an active participant. Contributions from patient association like the Red Cross (WP2) will ensure an inclusive and participatory approach. Ultimately, the event aims to explore how innovation can uphold patients’ well-being, dignity, and voice throughout the healthcare journey.
