Founded in 1769, Semmelweis University in Budapest has been a leading biomedical institution of higher education in Hungary and Central Europe for the last 250 years. Today, Semmelweis University is ranked among the world's TOP 500 universities (THE World University Rankings 2020), and among the TOP 300 universities in the world in the field of medicine and life sciences (QS Subject Ranking, 2020). Semmelweis University’s activities are based on its three-pillar mission of education, research & innovation, and health care. The university provides world-renowned education programmes in three languages. A truly international community, university students come from more than 70 different countries, and the international student body accounts for nearly a third of the almost 11,000 students studying at the university’s six faculties.
