Course description
Do you want to learn more about what motivates students to engage with student societies? Do you want to support a global organisation who is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders with a head for business, and a heart for the world?
If the answer is yes, this year’s EUniWell International Service-Learning Project is for you, and they need your help to: Explore students’ sustained engagement in their projects and in Enactus and thereby amplifying the positive impact of their community projects.
About the International Student Project:
This international Service-Learning seminar brings together students from across the EUniWell network to explore what motivates and sustains student engagement in Enactus – a global organisation empowering young people to use business and innovation for social good. Students will work in international interdisciplinary teams to conduct research, identify key factors influencing sustained participation in Enactus projects, and develop practical, research-based recommendations for the organisation. The seminar combines academic learning, international collaboration, and real-world impact — culminating in the presentation of results at the EUniWell Service-Learning Presentation Days in Nantes.
You will do:
- Learn about Enactus, its organisational values, and how it collaborates with universities and student societies.
- Work collaboratively in international, interdisciplinary teams using a range of research methods to explore what helps students maintain long-term engagement in their projects.
- Identify and analyse both hindering and encouraging factors that shape students’ social and voluntary engagement.
- Develop evidence-based recommendations and co-creative solutions for Enactus, grounded in your research findings.
You will get:
- Reflect on the key challenges and specific characteristics of managing, recruiting, and retaining members in non-profit organisations (NPOs).
- Gain practical insight into the structures, cultures, and working processes of NPOs such as Enactus.
- Learn and apply core methods of retention management and co-creative human resource development in real-world contexts.
- Formulate independent research questions, conduct academic research, and develop practical strategies to foster motivation, belonging, and engagement in student societies and NPOs.
- Strengthen your skills in collaboration, critical reflection, project management, and the presentation of applied results.
- Develop competencies highly valued by employers — including intercultural teamwork, leadership, and evidence-based problem-solving.
