Course description
This course offers an integrated introduction to how European regions foster innovation, sustainability, and economic growth to enhance citizens’ wellbeing. It explores regional innovation systems, Smart Specialisation strategies, and new policy instruments. Through European case studies, participants gain practical insights into how policy design, talent dynamics, creativity, and circular‑economy initiatives shape regional development. Designed for Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, as well as researchers and practitioners interested in regional innovation, the course is particularly valuable for those seeking to understand how universities, firms, and public institutions interact within R&D&I ecosystems. Held in early June in Santiago de Compostela—an historic city with a strong academic tradition and vibrant university atmosphere—the course combines seminars, visits, and applied activities to equip participants with analytical skills and real‑world knowledge to engage in building more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable regions.
