EUniWell Language Paths: New ready-to-use resources for collaborative language programmes

Looking to develop an intensive language course for EUniWell students? The new EUniWell Language Paths provide language teachers and university language centres with a collection of ready-to-use pedagogical frameworks designed to support collaborative and learner-centred language programmes in five languages of the Alliance.

Developed within the EUniWell Thematic Arena Culture, Multilingualism and Well-Being, the Language Paths are the outcome of the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) "Bringing Innovation in Your Teaching Practice", organised by the University of Florence. During this training, language teachers from across the Alliance explored innovative teaching methods inspired by the Neurolinguistic Approach before working together to co-design a collection of language learning sequences that can now be shared and reused throughout EUniWell.

A practical and collaborative resource for language teachers

The first collection includes six language pathways covering English (two thematic sequences), French, German, Hungarian and Ukrainian. Each pathway has been co-designed by teachers from EUniWell member universities, bringing together expertise from different language centres and educational contexts.

Rather than providing fixed lesson plans, the EUniWell Language Paths are designed as flexible pedagogical frameworks that teachers can adapt, enrich, and co-deliver within their own institutions. Each sequence combines learning outcomes, communicative objectives, detailed classroom guidance, project-based activities, and cultural content into a coherent progression that supports intensive language learning.

Promoting multilingualism across the Alliance

The EUniWell Language Paths are intended to inspire language centres and teachers to develop new short-term language programmes based on the languages spoken across the Alliance. By providing a shared pedagogical framework, the initiative makes it easier for universities to organise intensive courses targeted at EUniWell learner audiences.

Beyond expanding the language course offer, the initiative seeks to encourage participants to discover the language diversity of the EUniWell universities and encourage mobility. Learning the language of a host institution can help prepare for an experience abroad and facilitate integration into academic and local communities. By supporting the development of courses in both widely taught and lesser-used languages, such as Hungarian and Ukrainian, the Language Paths contribute to making mobility within EUniWell more accessible while promoting the diversity of languages spoken across the Alliance.

Develop your own language teaching programme

Language centres, teachers and programme coordinators across EUniWell are invited to use these resources as a starting point for developing new collaborative short-term language programmes. Whether organising a Blended Intensive Programme, a summer school or another short-term learning activity, the Language Paths offer a shared framework that can be adapted, enriched, and delivered jointly with colleagues from other EUniWell universities.
